A complete scholarship application must be submitted to The Academy admissions office five (5 business days) prior to the date you are scheduled to start classes. Awards will be determined by the highest category GPA; the quality /content of the letter(s) of referral / recommendation; and the required completed essay. All decisions by The Academy Scholarship Committee are final.
$1000 Salon/Stylist Referral Scholarship for Cosmetology
Prospective Student must provide:
- A Letter of Recommendation describing why the salon service provider or owner recommends you for enrollment to The Salon Professional Academy
- High School or Post-Secondary Transcripts or GED to prove graduation or equivalent
- Essay topic in 100 words or less: “What makes my experience at a Salon so enjoyable?”
- Students applying for the Referral Scholarship are also eligible to apply for one additional scholarship below.
Essay Topic: Essays submitted for the below scholarship applications must answer the following question:
“What is my primary goal in life and why am I a candidate for this scholarship?”
Essays will be rated based on the following criteria:
- 500 typed words or less
- 10% professionalism of the essay
- 20% articulation of thought in the fewest number of words
- 70% content of the essay question
$500 Tuition Scholarship
One $500 Tuition Scholarships may be awarded per class start date.
Prospective Student must provide:
- High School or Post-Secondary Transcripts showing a minimum 2.0 GPA
- A letter of recommendation from a career counselor or employer on company letterhead outlining your strengths and why you would be a good candidate for the scholarship. Letters could include examples of situations describing your work ethic, your people skills, your ability to multi-task or to complete job responsibilities, or attendance performance.
- Completed essay addressing the essay topic outlined above.
The following Scholarships are for Cosmetology students only.
$1000 Tuition Scholarship:
One $1000 Tuition Scholarships may be awarded per class start date.

- Two letters of recommendation outlining your strengths and why you would be a good candidate for the scholarship. Letters must be on company letterhead and can be from a career counselor, employer, or community leader. Letters can include examples of situations describing your work ethic, your people skills, your ability to multi-task or to complete job responsibilities, or attendance performance.
- Completed essay addressing the essay topic outlined above.
$2000 Tuition Scholarship:
One $2000 Tuition Scholarship may be awarded per class start date.
Prospective Student must provide:
- High School or Post-Secondary Transcripts showing a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Three letters of recommendation outlining your strengths and why you would be a good candidate for the scholarship. Letters must be on company letterhead and can be from a career counselor, employer, or community leader. Letters can include examples of situations describing your work ethic, your people skills, your ability to multi-task or to complete job responsibilities, or attendance performance.
- Completed essay addressing the essay topic outlined above.
Scholarship Details
- Scholarships recipients will be informed, in writing, of scholarship decision(s) within 3 business days prior to class start date.
- If the student fails to start classes, any awarded scholarship(s) becomes null and void.
- If the student postpones enrollment to a future start date, the student would need to reapply for scholarship(s) and is not guaranteed a scholarship based on a previous decision.
- All awarded TSPA scholarship(s) must be applied to the student’s tuition cost.
- All awarded TSPA scholarship(s) are non-transferrable.
- There is no cash allocation for this scholarship(s).
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Crediting the Student’s Ledger
- The awarded Scholarship(s) will be divided between two equal disbursements.
- One-half of the Scholarship will be credited to the student’s ledger once the student has been enrolled
30-calendar days at The Academy.
- The remaining one-half of the Scholarship will be credited to the student’s ledger at the completion of 450-hours (or Checkpoint halfway through the program, for Esthetics course) pending the student is meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy requirements.
- If the student is not meeting SAP requirements at the 450-hour (or Checkpoint halfway through the program, for Esthetics course) SAP Checkpoint, the last half of the Scholarship is forfeited and cannot be regained.
- There will be no cash allocation received for this Scholarship at any time, including in the event of a withdrawal or termination from The Academy.
- In the event of a student’s withdrawal or termination from the program /course of study, only the earned portion of the Scholarship will be applied to the Academy Refund Worksheet calculation as part of “paid tuition” as no part of this Scholarship can be redeemed or refunded as cash.
- “Earned portion / percentage” of the Scholarship is calculated by taking the student’s actual completed hours of attendance divided by full contracted hours in course = earned percentage (%) of completion as of the time of withdrawal.
- $ Amount of Scholarship applied to the student’s ledger times earned percent (%) of completion = the amount of Scholarship applied on Academy Refund Worksheet as credited toward “paid tuition”.
- Following the calculation to determine the “earned portion / percentage” of the Scholarship(s), an adjustment to the ledger balance, if applicable, will be posted to reflect the change due to the “unearned portion / percentage” of the Scholarship(s) balance that was previously applied.
