Why is there a dress code? 

At The Salon Professional Academy Dallas we are committed to growing the next generation of beauty professionals.

What is the dress code for cosmetology students?

All cosmetology students have to wear solid black. When you level jump to 2 or higher, solid gray and white tops can be added to your wardrobe.

• Name Badge
• Clothes
  • Wash and keep your uniform clean
  • Tops MUST overlap bottoms! No bellies showing or backs showing.
  • Black tops and bottoms in good condition, clean, pressed, fit properly
  • Black tops, not too low cut, must have sleeves-no underarms showing,
    • If you are wearing a cami or sport bra, it too must be black
    • No bra straps showing
    • If you wear it to the gym, it is not appropriate here
    • No sweat shirts or hoodies
  • Black bottoms – skirts or slacks, not too short or too tight
    • No jeans of any color-no shorts
    • If your body lines are showing, it is too tight.
    • If you wear it to the gym, it is not appropriate here
    • If you are wearing leggings, a tunic must cover your bottom.
    • No shorts of any kind
  • Hose or tights, if worn must be black or neutral in color
  • Socks must be black, if you wear them
  • Jewelry, be creative, add color here
  • Avoid bulky sweaters, low cut tops, spaghetti straps, tank tops, sloppy shirts, short skirt lengths, runs in
  • hose or tights
  • Repair lost buttons, torn seams, and hems, do not walk on your pant bottoms.
• Shoes
  • Shoes can be other colors other than black
  • Clean, polished shoes with no scuffs
  • If sandals are worn, they must have a strap around the heal and toes must be polished
  • Black shoestrings, if tie shoes
  • No tennis shoes or sneakers OF ANY KIND
  • No Crocs
• Makeup
  • Appropriate for daytime for women (including lipstick)
  • Color coordinated with skin tone
• Nails
  • Clean and filed
  • Polish must be neat and not chipped
• Hair
  • Clean, dry, finished style
  • Fashion hats or no baseball caps, or no Beanies
  • Hair accessories are okay

What is the dress code for esthetics students?

Everything above also pertains to you as a student at the Academy

• May purchase at your own expense gray tops and bottoms to be worn everyday.
• Tennis shoes can be worn with your scrubs
• Additional tops and bottoms can be purchased if needed. Please see your educator for additional scrubs
