Reopen letter to Students, Staff and Guests

Dear Students, Staff and Guests,

We have a target date for reopening The Salon Professional Academy Dallas.

June 1st, students will return to the campus.  We are targeting a June 10th to reopen to the guests in the Student Salon Training area. We have been working on protocols for reopening considering the CDC requirements, AACS recommendations and now ultimately the state requirements that must be followed.  As we have reviewed this information, we are finding that we teach most of the processes that the state is requirement, we now have no choice to follow these processes, they are now required.

TSPA will look different when you return.  We must act differently as well.  As much as I want to wrap my arms around each and every one of you, we must refrain for everyone’s best interest.  So, no hugs, high fives and congregating in the halls, breakroom or outside.  Social distancing is a must. Face masks are a must, so go ahead and order a cute one to wear, please make sure it is family friendly.  There will be no requirements on them, only that you wear one.

Please know that the decisions that we have made to reopen have been made with your safety in mind.  We will be observing all the new protocols for safety and ask for your patience and involvement where needed to apply some of these new tasks.

Ultimately our goal is to get TSPA opened again so that you can complete your education. We have almost met the limits of online learning that can be accomplished right now.  This is a hands-on career and many of you have expressed your desire to get more hands on, this will allow for all students to get the practical education that TSPA believes is important to your education.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me, ageleske@tspadallas.com or 972-420-7036.

Here are some of the new protocols…

Employees, students and guests will be asked to leave if any of the following symptoms are new or worsening:

Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore Throat, Loss of taste or smell, Diarrhea, Feverish of greater than 100 degrees

Known contact with a person who is lab confirmed to have COVID-19

If you have any of these symptoms you will be asked to leave.

You can return to TSPA when all three of the following criteria are met:  at least 3 days have passed since recovery (no fever without medication), improved symptoms (Cough better, breathing better), and at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.

If someone has symptoms of COVID-19 and does NOT get evaluated by medical professional or is tested, the person is assumed to have COVID-19 and may NOT return to TSPA until the 3-step process listed above is followed

If someone has symptoms that could be COVID-19 and wants to return to TSPA before completing the self -isolation period, they must obtain medical professionals note clearing them for return on an alternative diagnosis.

If you have been in contact with a person that is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 to return to work until the end of the 14-day self-quarantine period from the last date of exposure

EVERYONE will have a temperature check when they enter the building with a non-contact thermometer

Everyone will be asked to wash their hands and/or use a hand sanitizer when they enter the building

No walk-in clients will be allowed – they may call in using the number on the door and see about availability.

Only the guest being serviced is allowed in the building, no family or friends, unless a minor child is receiving services.

Guests will wait in their vehicles until the student is ready to begin the appointment

Employees, students and guests will be required to wear facemasks as possible for all services.

Guests are not to handle retail-if interested they should request information from an employee or the student service provider

As much as we love all the guests that come to TSPA, we have to ask to eliminate all contact that is not necessary for an appointment-example, hugs, high fives, yes, we miss them too!

If gloves are not worn for the service, hands must be washed before the service.  If gloves are worn, they need to be disposed of changed between each guest.  If someone touches their face, nose, eyes, cell phone, door, credit card or any surface that has not been sanitized, gloves need to be changed or rewash hands with soap and water

Disposable supplies will be used when available

All surfaces must be wiped down and sanitized between use including computers, phones and credit card machines.

Workstations, shampoo bowls, chairs, treatment tables must all be fully sanitized after each service as always. Shampoo bowls and manicure tables will also be disinfected before each guest.

Electrical equipment needs to be wiped clean and disinfected before each use.

All clean and disinfected tools and materials shall be stored in a clean, dry, debris free environment when not in use

Clean and disinfected tools and materials must be stored separately from soiled tools and materials.  Non cosmetology supplies must be stored in your locker.

Floors must be swept and cleaned between each guest and cleaned at the end of the day.  All trash must be emptied each day and plastic bags replaced

Please be patient with us-this is new for all of us and we want to make sure that we are teaching and adhering to all the protocols.

Cannot wait to see yawl soon!
