Big news broke in the beauty education industry this week; Regency Beauty Institute is closing all of their 79 locations. This has left many students wondering what the next step is for them in continuing their education.
Regency Beauty Institute has started the process of mailing each student’s transcripts (current students who have been enrolled within the last 120 days) to them.
They are also starting to mail out a copy of students’ transcripts to the cosmetology board (or other applicable authority) in their state. To find out more about what you should receive and what they are doing, visit their information page.
The Salon Professional Academy Dallas wants to make your transfer from Regency Beauty Institute as seamless as possible. Here are the steps you should take to become a TSPA Dallas student.
Applying and Evaluation
Are teach-out options available?
A teach-out program means that there are specific requirements in order to transfer to another school. TSPA Dallas does not have a teach-out agreement with Regency, however, we are taking transfer students on a case by case basis, and we do accept Regency credits.
How can I get my application started?
Students are encouraged to schedule a tour by contacting us here. All prospective transfer students will need to fill out an application and other necessary enrollment documents.
How long will it take to get the ball rolling?
We will do everything in our power to make the transition as smooth as possible for any and all eligible transfer students. While this largely depends on the student’s current progress and skill sets, we will provide individual help in any way that we can.
Financial Aid and Cost of Supplies
Does my financial aid transfer to TSPA Dallas from Regency?
Unfortunately, federal student aid does not transfer from school to school. When applying for aid, you’ll want to enter our school code, 041658, or simply come in and see us. We’ll help however we can!
The Private Beauty Culture School Tuition Protection Account has now started offering up to $35,000 to each Texas student for tuition reimbursement, up to $100,000 per school. Read this FAQ page for more information.
Will I need to get new supplies and kits?
The tools and supplies needed are entirely dependent on the progress that each individual student has already made. That being said, we’re willing to be flexible in any way possible to accommodate new transfer students.
Is Beauty School Still Right for Me?
Why do beauty schools close? Should I be worried about TSPA Dallas closing too?
Just like any other business, beauty schools can go under due to mismanagement, financial woes, low enrollment, etc. TSPA Dallas is thriving; we’re not going anywhere!
Is the industry OK? Is this a sign of the times?
The beauty industry is booming. We have more salons and spas requesting graduates than we have to give them. Our field is still growing quickly, and a major player leaving the game shouldn’t be seen as an indicator of a shrinking industry.
